Ottawa is Canada’s capital, in the east of southern Ontario, near the city of Montréal and the U.S. border. Sitting on the Ottawa River, it has at its centre Parliament Hill, with grand Victorian architecture and museums such as the National Gallery of Canada, with noted collections of indigenous and other Canadian art. The park-lined Rideau Canal is filled with boats in summer and ice-skaters in winter.
Ottawa Chamber of Commerce - The Ottawa Chamber of Commerce is recognized as one of the most influential, independent voices for businesses and organizations in the Nation’s Capital. The chamber promotes and supports members by connecting them to trade and investment prospects, exclusive networking opportunities, and a wealth of services, programs and products. The Ottawa Chamber also advocates for the protection and enrichment of Ottawa’s economic prosperity, sustainability, global competitiveness, and quality of life.
The Historical Society of Ottawa - The Historical Society of Ottawa (HSO) is Ottawa’s oldest historical organization. It was founded in 1898 by a group of prominent Ottawa women interested in the preservation of Canada’s rich historical heritage at a time when there were few Canadian museums and little government funding for such activities. Initially known as the Women’s Canadian Historical Society of Ottawa, the Society changed its name in 1955 when men were allowed to participate as full members.
Ottawa Public Library - The Ottawa Public Library is the largest bilingual public library system in North America. The OPL extends public access to information and services through the library’s 34 branches, physical and virtual, as well as two mobile libraries and a vending machine-style lending library service. Serving close to one million Ottawa residents, OPL’s mission is to inspire learning, spark curiosity, and connect people.
