BEST OF HOUZZ 2017 - CUSTOMER SERVICE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

IN BUSINESS FOR HER CLIENTS - BEST OF HOUZZ 2017 - CUSTOMER SERVICE

Top-rated Ottawa interior decorator continues to put her Clients at the centre of their decorating narration.

Ottawa, Ontario, January 25, 2017 - Decorating Den Interiors - Saree Parry Design are pleased to announce that they have just been awarded “Best of Houzz 2017”. This is the second year running that they have received this industry distinction for Customer Service, which is based on a number of factors, including the number and quality of recent Client reviews.

The Best of Houzz accolade is a useful resource for homeowners who are looking to hire a leading interior decorator in their region. A Best of Houzz badge helps to distinguish top-rated professionals in their metro area, thereby helping homeowners narrow down their choices, particularly in busy markets like Ottawa.

“I consider it a privilege each time that I’m invited into people’s lives, to help them decide how to best meet their decorating and lifestyle needs” says Saree Parry, owner of Decorating Den Interiors - Saree Parry Design, who is thrilled to receive this industry distinction.

Ms. Parry focuses on putting her Clients first right from the start. She begins by listening to their decorating dreams, and translates what she’s been told into beautiful and satisfying room designs. Each Client is at the centre of their own decorating narration which they approve before the design work begins. What begins with listening to the Client’s story, culminates in the delivery and installation of their renewed interior.

Ms. Parry has tailored her business to meet the needs of her Clients who are busy people. Respectful of her Clients’ time commitments, she meets with them in their home and never requires that they visit any stores. Homeowners really appreciate that they can have a living room, dining room, great room, bathroom or any room makeover without investing more than just a couple hours of their time.

A common challenge for Ms. Parry’s Clients is decorating north-facing and east-facing rooms, which each have their own shortcomings with respect to natural light. North-facing rooms tend to have harsh sunlight which flattens colours, while east-facing rooms transition from warm hues to cooler colours as the day goes on. Ms. Parry specializes in creating the appropriate colour-scheme for her room designs that shows off the room at its best - regardless of the type of natural light it receives, while at the same taking into account her Clients’ colour preferences.

Decorating Den Interiors - Saree Parry Design is Ottawa’s premiere all inclusive, in-home decorating service for luxury and fineine décor, serving Ottawa including Cumberland, Rockcliffe Park, Hunt Club, Manotick, Kanata, Stittsville, and Carp.

Saree Parry Designs - Decorating Den Interiors Announces Participation in Master Class at Annual Interior Design Conference

Ottawa, Canada, May 24, 2016 - Saree Parry Designs - Decorating Den Interiors (www.Saree.DecoratingDen.com), a leading provider of home decorating services in the Ottawa area, is announcing that Saree Parry has attended and participated in a master class on the use of colour for interior design.

The Decorating Den Interiors' 47th annual Interior Design Conference was held in San Antonio, Texas from May 17 to 22, and brought together over 250 franchise owners, designers, and staff. Parry attended "The Power of Color and Light Working Together" master class, which was hosted by Margi Kyle, an industry expert also known as "The Color Doctor."

"I was very excited to attend and participate in this year's conference," says Parry, principal designer and owner of Saree Parry Designs. "In particular, it's an honour to be able to learn from one of the industry's leading design experts, Margi Kyle. Her expertise on colour and lighting for home design are unparalleled, and I'm looking forward to bringing her expertise back to my clients."

The master class focused on using the Dewey Color System for decorating interiors. The Dewey Color System is used to scientifically test people's colour preferences, finding the most precise designs that appeal to their personality and feelings.

"I'm really looking forward to using the Dewey Color System to create colour schemes for my clients' homes," says Parry. "I really like the methodological approach it takes to tapping into the emotions of colours and using those to create impactful designs. It will allow my clients to embrace the power of colour in their home, and step outside of their comfort zone."

As part of her master class, Kyle demonstrated the colour language, detailing how to select the right colours and illumination for each client's home. She also explored how to create ambience with four different types of light, using light bulbs, light fixtures, and design elements.

"The warmth and feel of lighting changes four times each day," notes Parry. "Light is warm in the morning, cool in the afternoon, warm in the evening, and artificial at night. With a colour consultation, we try to find the right colours and lighting choices that can beautify your room at any time of day."

The master class also included details on choosing the correct bulbs for each room, matching the temperature of the bulb to the room's activity, feeling, and colour scheme. Much of the master class explored the interplay of illumination and colour, and how they inform each other.

"Summer is actually the perfect time to create a new colour scheme, as the intensity of light really brings out colours," says Parry. "Taking inspiration from outdoor elements, like trees and gardens, can help homeowners find bold, beautiful designs for their indoor space. I'm looking forward to helping homeowners find their own colour schemes using nature's palette, and Margi Kyle's guidance will give me even more tools to help achieve these beautiful designs."

It is this element of giving back to her clients that Parry is looking forward to the most. "I'm always looking for ways to improve my clients' homes and designs," says Parry. "For instance, I like to use the Benjamin Moore Aura line of paint, as it gives interiors a very luxurious feel. These are tips you pick up only through learning and experience."

Saree Parry Designs - Decorating Den Interiors Comments on Interior Design Tips Offered by Hotels

Ottawa, Canada, April 25, 2016 - Saree Parry Designs - Decorating Den Interiors (www.Saree.DecoratingDen.com), a leading provider of home decorating services in the Ottawa area, is commenting on some new interior design tips offered by prominent hotel brands.

Interior design is an important part of the hospitality industry, and hotels have their own "design concepts" and heads of design to work on rooms and lobbies. Now, several major hotel chains, including the Marriot and Loews Hotels, have released their interior design tips to help homeowners with their own living space. (Source: Harpaz, B., "What hotels can teach us about home design," CTV News, March 22, 2016, http://www.ctvnews.ca/lifestyle/what-hotels-can-teach-us-about-home-design-1.2827825.)

"There is a lot that homeowners can learn from hotel design," says Saree Parry, principal designer and owner of Saree Parry Design - Decorating Den Interiors. "In the hotel industry, interior design is essential to attracting and satisfying guests, especially for luxury brands. There are entire departments devoted to finding the right designs, so homeowners can really benefit from using these techniques."

With a new Manhattan hotel opening in the spring, the Marriot is using a "surprise and delight" design concept that focuses on bold, extravagant adornments. According to Toni Stoeckl, vice president of Marriot's Lifestyle Brands, homeowners should consider more than just visuals when designing their rooms.

"You need to think about the function of the room, as well as all the other senses," says Parry. "For instance, using lush carpeted flooring in the bedroom can not only look great and create warmth, but it can also soften sounds. Consider all aspects of your design choices."

While the Marriot makes use of bold pieces of artwork and graphics, homeowners should avoid cluttering their space and use only a few key pieces. As well, homeowners should focus on authentic decoration, which might even include premium-quality lifelike florals.

"Art or decorations that you choose should be personal and resonate with you," suggests Parry. "Filling up an interior with too many different pieces can feel cluttered. Paring down to only a few carefully selected pieces can have a bigger effect, and you can use them to create focal points or a sense of movement within your home."

While many people know Baccarat as a famous brand of crystal, there is also a Baccarat hotel in Manhattan, which makes heavy use of Baccarat crystals in their art and fixtures. According to Kemper Hyers, who was involved in the hotel's design, illumination is the key theme of the hotel's look. Lighting is used to transform the hotel's design, which is something homeowners can learn from.

"Lighting can dramatically alter the look of a space," notes Parry. "Often, by using at least two separate types of lighting-general and accent, you can create truly magnificent lighting. Even changing the angle of your lighting or shape of the fixture can have a big effect. It's something that homeowners have to pay attention to, as lighting that is too harsh or dull can diminish even a great design."

Loews Hotels has also released a series of videos with handy tips for sprucing up designs, creating ambience, and doing deep-cleans. Parry says that homeowners can learn a lot from paying mind to these hotel techniques, as well as exploring other sources of inspiration, researching design principles, and using an interior decorator to help bring their vision to life.

"Good design is a reflection of your style, personality, and taste," says Parry. "The same design that works well for one person might be ill-suited to someone else. As an interior decorator, my job is to help people articulate and realize their personal vision. Learn from what hotels and professionals are doing, but always put your own spin on it."

"The last year has been very notable," says Saree Parry, principal designer and owner of Saree Parry Design. "The two badges I received from Houzz were important distinctions. Saree Parry Designs - Decorating Den Interiors Reveals Guidelines for a Smooth and Satisfying Design Experience

Ottawa, Canada, September 24, 2015 - Saree Parry, principal designer at Saree Parry Designs - Decorating Den Interiors (www.Saree.DecoratingDen.com), a leading provider of upscale home interior design in the Ottawa area, is offering insights on how to ensure clients have a smooth and satisfying new home design experience.

Since Parry does all the design work for her busy clients, which includes furniture selection right through to the final reveal, it's important that they share with her what they want for their space.  This allows her to choose the perfect high-end home decor and furnishings that will make their dream a reality.

"I always tell my clients that I will not work without a budget. I don't mind spending the necessary time with my clients to help them determine a realistic budget for the design outcome they want," says Parry. "This is an essential part of the design process since, as a designer of upscale interiors, I don't want my clients to be disappointed with the design options I present. Price and quality home decor usually go hand in hand."

Clients should be aware that for the design process to be done right, it will likely take time, particularly when custom pieces are involved. Custom furniture doesn't sit around in inventory-it is tailor-made based on clients' choice of fabric, finishes, and trim preferences. Fine craftsmanship cannot be hurried, and Parry is unwavering on the level of quality from her suppliers of high-end home decor.

"Fall is just around the corner and winter isn't too far behind," says Parry. "People are going to be spending a lot of time indoors in the coming months, which is why now is the time for them to start working on design projects that will make their home look and feel its best."

Parry reminds clients that when it comes to designing an upscale home interior, it is important to enjoy the process.
"When you trust us with your design project, we will locate high-end home furnishings that aren't widely available to the public," Parry concludes. "Plus we have years of experience in managing otherwise stressful decorating projects for satisfied clients. Often, we surprise them with luxurious furnishings, lamps and accessories they wouldn't have considered but end up falling in love with!"
