Stylish Living in Ottawa’s Condo Scene
Transitioning from a spacious Toronto home to a sought-after Ottawa neighbourhood by the Rideau River, our client aimed to enhance their condo living experience. Faced with the challenge of blending functionality and visual splendour in the open-concept living room, our task was to seamlessly integrate storage solutions within the confines of limited floorspace and minimal wall availability due to an abundance of windows. The result: a seamless fusion of style and practicality, leaving our client delighted with their refined condo living experience.

Project Overview:
In addressing these challenges, our initial step involved a thorough understanding of our client’s needs and preferences. Their vision for the living room was clear— a space that exuded warmth, invited comfort, and showcased clean lines. Colour and patterns were integral aspects they desired to incorporate into the design.
Our solution centered around providing storage solutions that aligned with our client’s streamlined design criteria. A modular sectional, featuring storage beneath the chaise that could be raised, coupled with a TV chest equipped with hidden storage, not only maximized available space but also maintained a clutter-free and visually appealing living room.
To complement the mid-century furniture in the adjoining dining area, we introduced a plush mid-century modern upholstered arm chair. The light blue upholstery harmonized with the dominant colour in the space, influenced by the blue kitchen island. Matching the sectional’s upholstery with the kitchen island’s blue hue created a cohesive look throughout the primary living space.
Incorporating pattern elements and colour through an area rug and throw pillows added layers of visual interest, effectively tying the living room together with the broader living space.
Different wood tones throughout the main living space added an additional layer of warmth. Meticulous attention was given to selecting an armchair frame colour that complemented the island stools.
A notable feature of this design is the unobstructed panoramic view from the sixth floor, intentionally left bare behind the TV. This deliberate choice ensures that the stunning Rideau River view remains the room’s focal point, particularly during the breathtaking summer months.
Ultimately, our solution to this unified living room design challenge not only met but exceeded the expectations of our discerning client. The design achieves a perfect balance of functionality and visual allure, providing an ideal space for relaxation and entertainment in their condo.
