Mid-Century Modern Dining Area Transformation
Our client sought a sophisticated solution for their condo’s open-concept dining area, aiming to harmonize their mid-century modern sideboard and dining table while eliminating the builders’ grey wall colour. We delivered a visually stunning and functional design that perfectly aligned with their desires for modern condo interiors, earning enthusiastic approval from our clients.

Project Overview:
To fulfill our client’s specifications, we carefully selected low-back, mid-century modern-inspired dining chairs that mirrored the style of the dining table and sideboard. Considering the table’s dimensions and the confined space, we chose compact chair sizes. Upholstered in a striking deep yellow, these chairs complemented the hues present in our client’s tulip artwork collection.
In paying homage to our client’s original Mid Century metal starburst wall decor in the adjacent living room, we installed a Sputnik-inspired light fixture above the dining table. Underneath, a patterned wool area rug subtly united the colours of the kitchen island and living room.
The counter stools were chosen to harmonize with the light-toned wood in the living room and the warm colours in the nearby artwork. With elegant wood detailing on the backs and a small footprint, the stools enhanced the warmth and inviting ambiance of the space.
Introducing a touch of timeless graphic design, we painted a band of colour behind the tulip artwork, drawing inspiration from the groovy graphic design trends of the late 1960s and 1970s. The final design seamlessly embraced the enduring character of the Mid-century modern aesthetic while effortlessly integrating into the 21st century.
Our design solution achieved a unified, stylish, and colourful open-concept dining area that incorporated our client’s cherished mid-century modern pieces, their love of colour, and the existing blue tones. The outcome was a visually stunning and functional design, perfectly suited for modern condo interiors.
